Textbooks of the Future: Free & Collaborative!
Textbooks of the Future: Free & Collaborative!

Can the Wikipedia model of collaborative production succeed here? The panelists were among the co-authors of the recently launched Cape Town Open Education Declaration (http://www.capetowndeclaration.org/), a new declaration on free content and education. The declaration calls for publicly funded educational materials to be freely available online and for the adoption of open content licenses for these resources. Open educational resources have the potential to improve the quality and reduce the costs of educational materials.
