Synopsis:
After a communication meltdown, Dynasty Handbag (alter-ego of performance artist and musician Jibz Cameron) decides to take a vow of silence. She soon discovers that silence is golden, but the kind of golden that leads her into a vacuum of isolation and despair. Shot entirely on green screen using pirated internet photos as backdrops and in place of other actors, The Quiet Storm is both a dream and nightmare of contemporary video production which in turn creates a hilarious and tragic collage of hyper-unreality. Director's Bio:
Jibz Cameron received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1998 and has since been working as a performance/video artist, actor and muscian. She has been self producing and performing Dynasty Handbag shows for the past 6 years. She lives in Brooklyn with her chihuahua named Pillow and is independently wealthy. Hedia Maron received her BFA in Film/Video from Cal Arts and her MFA in Film/Screenwriting from Columbia University. She has worked steadily over the past 4 years on a multitude of queer avante garde cinematic productions and yet surprisingly she makes her living from editing reality TV shows. |
