Synopsis:
At 25, Glenn Irwin Pinnell was already known as Eagle Pennell. The successes of his two first features, The Whole Shootin' Match and Last Night at the Alamo, led to offers from Hollywood and secured Eagle's legendary status among Texas filmmakers. Although Eagle's career continued beyond those first two films, his acute alcoholism and legendary ego alienated many of his friends and collaborators. Eagle remained a forgotten and mostly unsung talent throughout his life. In 2002, he died. Friends, family, and fellow filmmakers recall Eagle's life, the excitement of working alongside him, and the burden of his addictions. Director's Bio:
Ren© Pinnell BIO:Born and mostly raised in Austin, Texas, Ren© Pinnell has been making movies since he was but a wee squirt. His experimental music video, Love Ya Like, was a finalist at the 2003 Student Academy Awards, won Best Editing at Cinematexas, and took home the Grand Prize at the TGAFP Festival. Ren© Pinnell's second music video, Makes Me Love You, premiered at the Filmstock International Film Festival in England and nearly got him expelled from UT because of the flagrant safety violations inherent in filming a rock band underwater. Ren© Pinnell also works in theater and has written, directed, and produced an original play, Hot Air, and an original musical, The Caf© du Cach©, in which he also acted due to circumstances beyond his control. Ren© Pinnell's now defunct but still beloved Elevator Art Club won a Best of Austin award from the Austin Chronicle for the 'MOST DADA ART COLLECTIVE.' In 2005 Ren© Pinnell joined The Edmond Bulldogs comedy troupe and later directed their MTV pilot. He is now a happy member of Backpack Picnic and directing their weekly HD video sketch show for OnNetworks.com. Claire Huie BIO: Claire Huie earned a masters in photojournalism from the UT School of Journalism in 2006. Since then she has struggled to make a living as a videographer, photographer, and editor in Austin. If anyone can help her, especially to become a documentary editor, she would be hugely grateful. |
