Synopsis:
Each year Parkes hosts the Elvis Festival, the biggest of its kind in Australia. The fact that the King probably never even heard of the tiny rural town was no excuse for the motley crew that made up the festival committee. Indeed, the threat of bushfires, floods, public ridicule, community indifference, financial loss, incompetence and outright exhaustion were never going to overcome this band of devotees. None other than Elvis (or someone who looks a lot like him) takes us back through the years of struggle to relive the events that made this unlikely festival possible. Director's Bio:
Anthony is an award winning writer/director whose short dramas and numerous TV documentaries have been screened at a range of prestigious international festivals including; the Cannes International Film Festival (Official Competition 2000), Aspen Shortsfest, Karlo Vary Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, London Film Festival, St Kilda Film Festival and Flickerfest, as well as broadcast on the Sundance Channel, Movieola, Showtime, ABC and SBS. His most recent production is 'Elvis Lives in Parkes' (2007) for SBSI, PFTC and FTO. |
