Synopsis:
Over 2000 kids. 400 teams nationwide. Eight months of brainstorming, designing and building. One goalÉto create the next great toy. 'Some Assembly Required' follows six teams of determined teenagers as they navigate 'the game of life' on their quest to win the national toy design crown. As our toy inventors take their ideas from blank page to brilliant toy creation, we watch their lives change. Brains are stretched, patience is tested, teamwork is critical. Personality conflicts, family issues, boy/girl tensions and contrary snack preferences all heighten the drama as toy and game ideas are debated, attempted, trashed, re-imagined and, eventually, built. These kids pour their lives into their games. As deadlines near, nerves fray. Is their idea viable? Is it a 'winning' idea? Is it able to get through airport security on their way to the national competition in San Diego? One thing for sure, inventing a great toy is a lot more than fun and games. Director's Bio:
