Synopsis:
Kirk Grabowski has already endured hours of mind-numbing muzak, communicated with robots, and shared his most sick and twisted secrets with a complete stranger. He never thought calling his bank could be so traumatic. Director's Bio:
Will Elliott and Kirk Johnson owe their friendship and filmmaking partnership to a freak accident on an offshore oil rig in 2004. The two "roughnecks" worked on opposite sides of the 20,000 square foot rig, however their paths would cross when one of the main feed lines ruptured (due to the intense sea floor pressure) and the rig capsized. The violent eruption sent Elliott flying into the Gulf of Mexico. Without hesitation, Johnson grabbed two life preservers and plunged 20 feet into the ocean to save the coworker he hardly knew. The two were hoisted back on deck where Johnson proceeded to resuscitate the unconscious Elliott, despite the fact that he was not CPR certified. "When I came to, he was looking down at me and smiling," recalls Elliott. "As the sun began to set behind his head, he laughed and whispered, 'What are we doing here?'"The two left the rig and set out for Austin, Texas the following morning. They have been writing and producing comedy ever since. |
