This year we introduced a new type of programming called Future15, 15 minute presentations around a central topic. On Saturday afternoon, in the Convergence Theme, a diverse group of web professionals got together to talk about, well, diversity on the web. Web Editor and Politics Editor for The Onion, and 2009 Web Awards host, Baratunde Thurston used his 15 minutes to offer his humorous and poignant perceptive of the Black experience online in How To Be Black.

Interactive Podcasts: Battledecks 2010

IA-Podcast-Icon-2010.jpgBattledecks is a fast-paced, fun, laugh riot where "contestants" have to put together a presentation on the fly as slides are randomly projected for their confusion and the delight of the audience. We are committed to having a diverse group of both contestants and judges.

In the SXSW Interactive panel "Web Series 2.0: Big Campaigns on Digital Dollars,” Melissa Fallon, Chris Hanada, Milo Ventimiglia, Wilson Cleveland and Andrew Hampp gathered to discuss the non-traditional tactics that brands are beginning to employ in their advertising efforts. The branded webseries is just one vehicle that brands are utilizing to get their message heard, Ikea and Nissan being two of the more prominent. As the lines between entertainment and persuasion begin to blur, the challenge then becomes finding a way to integrate the brands message into the content seamlessly.
