  Red Leaves - Frankie Machine

Rock/Experimental/Indie
Dark, creepy, pop rock: sounds of hollow distorted bass ,dark-pulse synth and tightly wound guitar. Lujan's vocals are urgent and pleading, juxtaposed nicely with fellow singer Singer's airy chants of reassurance.

Red Leaves was started in 2004 by David Lujan & Singer Mayberry in Austin Texas.

Since the summer of 2006 they have done 3 tours of the West Coast. In May of 2008 they plan on hitting the East Coast promote their 3rd Self-Released Recording, the first Full Length out in May 2008.

This year they will be playing their first SXSW SHOWCASE, Wed. March 12th at Momo's 8pm.

In 2007 they were invited to play the:

- Santa Fe Muzik Fest:
(with headliners Wutang Clan, Everclear, Public Enemy +more) on August 12th, and were reviewed in the Santa Fe Reporter as one of the "Top 10 Bands Not to Miss" at the Festival.

- The North vs. South Music Music Festival in Lawrence KS (with headliners Moonlight Towers and Youngmond Grand) August 2007

and

-The Chinati Open House Weekend in Marfa Texas (with headliners Sonic Youth), October 5th 2007, with a 93.5 NPR Marfa Radio Live Studio Performace & Interview.

In 2007 Red Leaves was included on 2 Compilation CDs:

The Australian Cattle God Records CMJ Compilation

& Political Party Records Compilation
(Tracks Kill Your Sister & Market Place)
---------------------------------------------------------------

The 2 self-released EPs, "All the Zombies" and "Disposable Parts" have both received several positive local reviews. Frenchi Smith (Sixteen Deluxe, Young Heartattack) servied as producer (also produced their first full length February 2008). The records have been sold at gigs and through mail order, and thanks to a year of near nonstop touring, the band has almost sold out of all copies.

-----
"...A fierce collection of dark pop sensations, Disposable Parts combines emotion, precision, and style without ever compromising sincerity. Album opener "Kill Your Sister" showcases one of Red Leaves' most intriguing strengths- the powerful and unconventional vocal interplay of bassist Singer Mayberry and guitarist David Lujan. Mayberry's hollow bass lines provide the album's steady heartbeat. Meanwhile, Lujan's jagged riffs and writhing melodies sharpen the album's sound with a refreshing emotive edge...[the EP] gives testament to Red Leaves' progression into a sound all their own. Complete with hand-screened packaging, this self-released album brings together an earnest DIY aesthetic with impassioned and catchy songwriting. Buy it and turn it up."
