The SXSW® Music and Media Conference showcases hundreds of musical acts from around the globe on over eighty stages in downtown Austin. By day, conference registrants do business in the SXSW® Trade Show in the Austin Convention Center and partake of a full agenda of informative, provocative panel discussions featuring hundreds of speakers of international stature.
Elektra Luxx rescheduled! TONIGHT March 15th, G-Tech Theater at 11:45pm. Badges in 1st, then passes, then individ tix from last night. G-Tech is a SMALLER Theater - if you don't get in, individ tix will be refunded at G-Tech box office.
By its very nature, soul music is a changeable thing. The form emerged from the streets of Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia and Memphis, and found worldwide acclaim in the early '60s. It grew more funky and psychedelic as times changed, and even transformed into disco for a while. Much like jazz that came before it, this African-American art form is challenged to maintain its identity and its audience in this 21st century era.
Songwriters approach their process in a number of ways. Some songs just flow out fully formed, and some are crafted and labored over for months. The mysteries and pleasures of writing songs for a living will be discussed by three great artists at the panel
