And now for something completely different. The Cliks' album Snakehouse (Warner Canada, Silver Label/Tommy Boy Entertainment US/International) reveals a band of such primal power and unguarded emotionality that it will take your breath away. Having spent the last year on the road playing with some of music’s greats, including The Cult and as part of Cyndi Lauper’ True Colors Tour, as well as appearing on CBS’s the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Cliks, Lucas Silveira (vocals/guitar) with Morgan Doctor (Drums), Nina Martinez (Guitar), and Jen Benton (Bass), are showing no signs of slowing down. This year, you can catch Lucas on an episode of the new season of TLC’s L.A. Ink being tattooed by Kat Von D. This year will be the band’s second appearance at SXSW. After last year’s performance, the Boston Globe wrote, “Two of our favorite bands at the festival anchored the extremes of female-centric sounds … and The Cliks, a foursome out of Toronto, rocked with primal, stylish ferocity reminiscent of the early Pretenders.”
