Sacramento guitarist Ross Hammond has been a fixture on the Sacramento/Bay Area jazz, improvised music and rock scenes for the past decade. The 30 year old guitarist divides his time between his own personal improvising groups, working as a sideman for singers and songwriters, teaching private lessons, running his label Prescott Recordings as well as curating local jazz and new music events in Sacramento.
In 2007 he was featured on the cover of the Sacramento Bee newspaper’s “Ticket” Section, and received a Critic’s Choice award for lifetime achievment from the Sacramento Area Music Awards (Sammies). His most recent project, Ross Hammond’s Teakayo Mission, has received reviews from Allaboutjazz.com, the East Bay Express, the Sacramento Bee, Itsajazzthing.com, the Sacramento News and Review, etc. The album, a DIY release, has received airplay as far away as New Zealand.
