Lars Vaular is a young rapper and songwriter from Bergen, Norway. He released his debut album “La Hat” in december 2007, which quickly became a underground classic in his hometown. The record was released through his own imprint NMG/G-huset, and the distribution was handled by the artist himself, supplying recordstores and digital downloading, as well as selling the album out of the trunk of his brothers car.
-Hip-hop is still a young genre in this country, and between labels not having the proper understanding of my music, and the albumsales decreasing due to downloading, I figured I might as well push my own music, and see how far it gets me, the 23 year old rapper/songwriter explains.
His sound is clearly inspired by classic g-funk and gangsta rap, while his lyrics and laidback flow reflect the everyday life of a young scandinavian man. The hypnotizing hook from his first video “Eg e fra Bergen” has caught the ear of hip-hop conniseurs worldwide, and proves that music still is universal, even rapmusic.
He is currently finishing the recording process of his sophomore release, scheduled to be released summer 2008.
