B.R. Bickford has been making music under the name The Strugglers since 2001, releasing three full-length albums, an EP, and numerous compilation tracks. He has toured the U.S. and Europe, sharing the stage with acts such as Destroyer, Smog, David Bazan, Magnolia Electric Co., Greg Weeks, Centro-matic, and Castanets. "The Latest Rights", the fourth full-length by The Strugglers, will be released on Acuarela Discos (European home to Xiu Xiu and Destroyer) on March 18th. The album features violinist Daniel Hart (John Vanderslice, St. Vincent), multi-instrumentalist Alex Lazara (The Prayers and Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers), and a host of other accomplished North Carolina musicians. Grayson Currin of The Independent Weekly summed up the new record recently: “When most of the stuff on your iPod has been revealed as retro-hawking or disingenuous schtick, Bickford's best lines will still be relevant and devastating, baking under the pale glow of his perfect Virginia tenor.”
