The Brooklyn duo Shellshag began in San Francisco. Shellhead and Jen Shag are stalwarts from the 90's SF music scene, known for running the infamous starcleaners warehouse where bands like the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols got thier start. Shellshag has a simple minimal sound with song styles ranging from heavy rock to pop to punk ballads. The duo performs facing one another, playing drums standing up, using a three piece kit and body percussion to accomplish their distinct sound. Shellshag's debut full length "destroy me I'm yours", a 12 song, 35 minute LP, was recorded at Rodent Records in San Francisco with producers Elton Ridge and Eric Hass, the current producers of the upcoming release from Billy Talbot of Neil Young's Crazy Horse and was released on the DIY label Starcleaner Records. Jonathan from NY Night Train describes Shellshag and their new record best; "The duo approaches music and life with the kind of elation, unpretentious soul, and D.I.Y. brotherhood that you just don’t see all that often anymore… if you ever really did.
