The genre defying Spankers are defiantly acoustic, but obnoxiously unorthodox in every other way. Blues, country, bluegrass and jazz are the foundation for their wide ranging experiments in aural collage, musical humor and social commentary. As they bitched in their recent Off Broadway show, "What? And Give Up Show Biz?" the Spankers are fed up with the idiots who hear a funny line or two and assume they are a silly little novelty band. Their groundbreaking vocal and instrumental arrangements, adventurous song structures and sheer musicality place them among the best live acts working today.
