fujiwara,daisuke (a.k.a quartz head)

Born in 1970. Graduated Barklee College of Music in 1996 then
acquired an instructor's license of the 'modal' jazz theory known as
the Lydian Chromatic Concept. After returning to Japan, he got a
great influence by Club music scene at that time and soon taking in
electronic instruments like Samplers, Rhythm Machines and Analog
Synthesizers into his improvised music. As a starter, Detroit Techno
wizard, Jeff Mills, invited him to play solos for his set in Tokyo,
fujiwara took over the part of the sax player for Underground
Resistance (UR), galaxy 2 galaxy, at those units' Japan shows. He
has formed the electronic, jazz-inspired electro music project called
'quartz head' in 2004 and has been searching for new possibilities
in Jazz.
