In recent years, Mallman has toured across America opening for such diverse acts as Guided by Voices, Beth Orton, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Power, Donovan, Tegan and Sara, Ozomatli, Everlast, Exene Cervenka, Howie Day, Cracker, amongst many others. At 17, Mallmans punk/prog band was playing shows with bands like Green Day and Chicagos 8-Bark. It was during these years where his thrashy stage show would begin drawing its inspiration from such artists as Darby Crash, Ian Curtis, James Brown, Joe Cocker, and David Byrne. Today, Mallman boasts a star on the wall of Minneapolis' world famous "First Avenue Nightclub" from which a live cd (Susstones) was released in 2003. The Minneapolis City Pages magazine recently listed Mallman's "Kissing the Knife", in it's "Top 50 Minnesota Songs of All Time", alongside Prince, The Trashmen, and Soul Asylum. His recent CD, "Between the Devil and Middle C" on Badman Recording Company, is his most widely recieved to date. Mark Mallmans live performances are renowned. An experience that is like no other, and unforgettable. They have earned him a reputation among fans as the fastest piano in the Midwest.
