Axel Krygier was born on January 31, 1969 in Argentina. He went on tour with “Instrucción Cívica” as sax player together with musician Kevin Johanssen, while taking piano and transverse flute lessons.
At the age of 18, Axel bought his first multi track recorder and began to record his songs as well as experiment with timbre while plating instruments. Since then, Krygier has composed music for numerous films, plays and ballets.
Between 1990 and 1996, he was a member of the group called La Portuaria, with which he went on extensive tours and released four albums.
In 1999, Los Años Luz record company released his debut solo album, “Echale semilla!” and was selected Best New Album of the Year by Clarín daily and Rolling Stone Magazine of Argentina. The following year, the album was released in Spain under HiTop, which had already released “Echale Remixes” and “Echale Mas Remixes” in vinyl record format. The songs from this album can also be found in many European and Asian compilations.
In 2003, Krygier released “Secreto y Malibu,” a soundtrack he wrote for the eponymously titled ballet-play which was successfully staged in Argentina, Europe, the U.S. and Asia around that time.
Between 2001 and 2003, Axel Krygier formed his own band in Barcelona and took part in numerous European music festivals such as Rennes’ Transmusicales, Barcelona’s BAM, Paris’ Bal-Concert de La Villette, London’s Latin Festival and many others.
On his return to Argentina, Krygier formed the Sexteto Irreal alongside Christian Basso. The rest of the lineup was Fernando Samalea, Alejandro Terán and Manuel Schaller, with whom he performed at the Konex Festival in Quilmes.
Krygier has collaborated with the likes of Daniel Melingo, Kevin Johansen, Christian Basso, Fernando Samalea, Los Pericos, Los Cafres and the Spanish Watch TV.
He was a guest multi instrumentalist with the Argentinian band Soda Stereo during their farewell tour in 1997, as well as keyboard player with Charly García during the series of concerts he gave in July and August 2004.
In 2006, Krygier released Zorzal, his third album after Echale Semilla of 1999 and Secreto y Malibu of 2003. This album earned a nomination to the Gardel Awards as Best New Pop Artist.
