Genre: Electronic Hometown: Buenos Aires ARGENTINA

Gaby Kerpel was born March 18th, 1964, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

During his adolescence, he was encouraged by his older brother Anibal
to take music lessons. He later played keyboards in several jazz-rock
and pop bands.

In 1985 he meets "La Organizacion Negra", a group that revolutionized
the Argentine theatre scene and composes the music for their three
shows: U.O.R.C (1986); "La Tirolesa" (1988) and "Almas
Examinadas" (1992).
The group's particular creative style demands Kerpel to search for
different ways from the ones examined previously; using technology as
a creative tool, he begins to form an expression of a personal and
powerful music.
In 1993, the group dissolves and two of their members, Diqui James
and Pichón Baldinu, form De La Guarda. In this new project Diqui and
Pichón, choose to keep on experimenting with air as their scenic
support, inherited by "La Tirolesa", only this time with a more
festive spirit than "La organizacion negra".
They summon Kerpel to join them as their musician and Gaby starts
to reflect with his particular sound this living, wild energy. He
achieves a tribal sense in his music, from an undefined spot in the
world or maybe from many spots all at once, mixing different cultural
influences, including Argentina and its folklore.
Kerpel begins working on various other projects that include video,
film and dance endeavors, but De La Guarda is always given top
priority, playing live in all performances and developing the show
alongside the directors.
In 1995, De La Guarda, performs "Villa Villa" for the first time. The
show has strong musical support that includes live percussion &
vocals. Kerpel´s music acquires another dimension as Gustavo
Santaolalla (Oscar-winning film music composer for Brokeback Mountain & Babel), who produces music with Gaby's older brother Anibal
Kerpel, produces an album for the De La Guarda.
The CD was released on Island Records that same year.

From 1996, De La Guarda, tours around the world with "Villa Villa"
and in the meantime Gaby produces his solo release "Carnabailito", a
techno-folk album together with Gustavo Santaolalla. Nonesuch
Records, a very prestigious label, releases the album in 2003 in the
United States and worldwide.
After excellent reviews, Kerpel develops his web site and multimedia
show extravaganza.

Starting this year, Gaby begins work with Diqui James on a new show
called "Fuerzabruta", featuring a more electronic and pop sensibility
without losing its tribal and percussive roots. The show opens up in
Buenos Aires in 2005. It has been presented in Lisbon (´05), London
(´06), Bogotá (´07), and started a European tour in Edinburgh,
Scotland in September 2007.
The show opened in New York City in October at the Daryl Roth Theater in
Manhattan.

In 2006 Gaby started to develop a DJ set with Julian Gomez, a DJ,
Musician and Producer he met through Fuerzabruta.

The project grown fast and they played several times at Zizek, in
Buenos Aires, mixing Cumbias, Reggaeton and Hip Hop, with 2 Laptops.

Kerpel started soon to make his own remixes and songs for the set
giving to it a personal style.

King Coya (Gaby Kerpel) and El Trip Selector (Julian Gomez) have been
doing the set during 2007 at Zizek and private parties in Buenos
Aires, London and Bogota.
This year, the band "Brazilian Girls" asked Gaby to make a remix for
his popular song "Pussy" and he did also a remix for the song "El
Burrito" from "Los Tucanes de Tijuana and Cucu Diamantes".

Another project he is running today is "Terraplen", Argentinean Folk
music mixed with electronics, with Diego Vainer and Daniel Martin,
produced by Gustavo Santaolalla.
