On November 6, 2007 Le Grand Magistery Records (who brought us both Stars and Momus) released SUITE by Chicago artist LE CONCORDE. Le Concorde is the brainchild of singer/multi-instrumentalist/academic-refugee, Stephen Becker, Ph.D. His latest collection of songs builds upon Le Concorde’s trademark sound: ambitious, indie-pop arrangements fueled by astute lyrics, dream-like harmonies, and complex melodic counterpoint. On Suite, Becker joins forces with childhood musical hero, David Gamson of Scritti Politti (Miles Davis, Chaka Khan) and Ken Stringfellow (Posies, REM). Recording sessions took place in Chicago, LA, and Paris. Suite follows Le Concorde’s critically acclaimed Universe and Villa (March Records). The 2005 release was voted an Album of the Year by XM Satellite Radio and The Village Voice. All Music Guide agreed, “…grandly arranged – yet deceptively simple – metropolitan pop music with an undercurrent of mad glee….”
