Hailing from Houston, TX, Fatal Flying Guilloteens prove that great bands come from towns that you'll never think are cool enough to move to. Rest assured you lazy hipster fuckwits, because the newest addition to Frenchkiss Records will be bringing copious amounts of trouble and treble to your soft hamlets.

The formation of Fatal Flying Guilloteens is something of a lark. What was supposed to be a one off show at a party in 1997 (w/ the members in Lone Ranger costumes) has turned into a raw unbridled assault on the music world. Starting exclusively as a vocals/guitar/drums setup, the band carved their early sound on garage stalwarts like Estrus and Dirtnap all under the tutiledge of long time collaborator/producer Tim Kerr who helped share fill-in bass duties w/ CJ of Albuquerque phenoms The Drags. It wasn’t until the band acquired a full time bassist that the band evolved into the powerhouse heard first on the GSL recordings and now on Quantum Fucking.

Quantum Fucking: a fictitious true life account of young love in the streets, was commissioned by Frenchkiss Records of NYC and is the highly anticipated third full length release for the Fatal Flying Guilloteens. In simple terms it is a record about fucking and taking a lot of drugs. From the opening song “The First Act of Violence” to the last “Legion of Serpents”, the idea is to pound themes of aggression in a bigger and noisier way. This change of style is due in part to the band doing all of the recording and mixing of Quantum Fucking on their own at the perpetually cursed Sweatbox Studio in Austin. The recording had to be done in two separate sessions because not once but twice the Studio caught on fire. As chaotic as firestorms are, so is the record. Loud and obnoxious, it wouldn’t be outta place on the great Touch & Go or Amphetamine Reptile line ups of the 90’s.

Fatal Flying Guilloteens live show is performed with the grace and tact of a train wreck. The band’s onslaught seems pretty basic on the surface, but that’s not to say it isn’t smart. The guitars evoke Duane Denison, combining the Jesus Lizard’s off-kilter but razor-sharp attack with a welcome dose of teenage sloppiness. Listeners previously unaware of the bands ruckus are slowly being introduced to the humid throes of Texas haunts and dives as the well traveled band plays increasingly larger stages. The band plans to visit your town in the fall/winter 2007-2008.
