Falling Off The Lavender Bridge is the debut album from London-based songwriter Dev Hynes, aka Lightspeed Champion. Upon the sudden demise of his last band, Hynes composed a wealth of material that bore no resemblance to his prior efforts: instead of the aggro-punk/electro-noise thrashings of his old band, Test Icicles, Dev had concocted an effortless blend of delicate country-rock and folk-pop. The making of the album took him from East London all the way to Omaha to work with producer Mike Mogis. Layered with ambitious instrumentation, Dev was fortunate to draw upon the wealth of talented local musicians who contributed greatly to the sound of the album and furnished his gently humorous, open-hearted songs with an unaffected warmth.
