Carlotta:
With their debut album “Out Of Love” just now hitting Itunes, this new nineteen-year-old rock band from Los Angeles planted its seed before the age of five. Clayton Hawkins, the voice of Carlotta began his singing career at the early age of four taking singing lessons, focusing mainly on classical training and opera. At six his professional singing career commenced with doing voice-overs and theme songs for Japanese cartoons. Next, Hawkins began performing when he played Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors, a touring opera based in Southern California. By twelve Hawkins had been in over forty shows, mostly musical theatres. His collective experiences by the age of thirteen led him to begin writing his own music and poetry. At fifteen David Bowie’s backing band gave Hawkins the opportunity to record his first demo. Once he experienced the overwhelming power of having a live band behind his voice, the path was clear of what was next for him. This incredible stroke of luck was followed up by performing in the acclaimed Edinburough Fringe Festival in Scotland, which allowed Hawkins to meet guitarist Andrew Smith while both performing in the Rock and Roll version of Macbeth. After returning to Los Angeles the two began practicing and found amazing chemistry together. Shortly after that, Matt Baker, who is a well known classically trained Jazz drummer and Jarrad Lander, a highly respected local bassist, all came together and Carlotta was formed. |
