Chet is largely the work of one Ryan Beattie as assisted by his brother Patrick and a number of friends. The band hails from Victoria, British Columbia, an island an hour from Vancouver off of Canada's west coast. Chet has just signed on with Absolutely Kosher for their as yet unrecorded third album following two incredible records for Canada's Aaargh! label. Ryan is a busy guy, releasing lo-fi solo material under the name Himalayan Bear and playing guitar for cult heroes Frog Eyes. Think of Chet's sound as soulful avant-garde pop in the spirit of Robert Wyatt, Scott Walker, Tim Buckley and maybe Al Green or Otis Redding.
